 Wednesday 20th April 2022

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the Summer term. We have so much to look forward to this term alongside getting your children ready for their next adventure in year 4!

This term our theme is Europe and The Egyptians. This will be our focus in English through our guided reading of ‘Flat Stanley’  Geography with the study of Europe and a non European Country and History where we will learn all about the ancient Egyptians.

In Science we will look at plants and light. We will identify and describe the structure of plants, explore the requirements for plants to live and how they vary from plant to plant and discuss the life cycle of plants. When looking at light we will identify how shadows are made, how light is reflective and identifying how we need light to survive.

In Maths, we will continue with our learning of fractions where we learn all about how to convert them. We will also look at time, shape, mass and capacity.

Our RE learning this term will focus on Pentecost and the Eucharist of Mass. During our Pentecost learning we will reflect on what happened during the last supper and think about the offerings that we can make just like we do at mass. This will then lead onto our learning about the Eucharist of Mass.

Our PE days will continue to be on a Tuesday and a Thursday for both Year 3 classes. If at any point in the term we have to change these days, we will let you know through Class Dojo as soon as possible. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct PE kit which is in line with our PE uniform. If you are unsure of what this includes you can find the list on our school website.

Both year 3 classes will now have whole class guided reading sessions on a Wednesday for year 3 yellow and a Friday for year 3 blue. This means that your child may come home with a book to read from the library or will have the option to choose a book of their choice at home. If your child does still come home with a guided reading book this is to help to give them that little extra push ready for year 4.

We will also be sending home a new home learning menu for you to complete with your child. They should continue to hand their home learning in on a Wednesday and we will return this to them on a Friday.

As always, if you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to contact us through Class Dojo.

Many Thanks,

Mr Gray and Miss Jackman
