6th September 2021
We are excited to welcome you all to KS2, Year 3! Your child will be learning with Miss Jackman, Mr Gray, Miss Cooper, Miss Jackman and Miss Holmes.
We have a wide range of lessons this year including a new language, Latin. In maths this term we will be looking at number place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. In English we are looking at a range of different spellings, grammar, persuasive writing and poems. In Religious Education we are looking at being part of a family at home and as part of our religious family. In History this term we will be looking at Pre-History including the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Science will include Animals (including humans) and rocks. In art we will be using our sketching skills.
Our P.E lessons this term in Year 3 Yellow will be on Tuesday and Friday and in Year 3 Blue PE will be on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes dressed in their PE clothes on these days. Your child will be sent home with a home learning menu; they need to choose one piece of home learning from this to do each week. Your child needs to bring their home learning into school every Wednesday. We will also be completing spelling quizzes on Fridays with the spellings and grammar being learnt in class throughout the week. Each child will have their own login for Spelling Shed where they will have an assignment to complete to practice their spellings; this can be accessed at home. In addition, the children will have weekly times table and addition and subtraction challenges like in year 2. You can help you child learn their timetables by using Time Table Rock Star online. Please try to read with your child every day as this will help support our daily reading challenges in class and their wider learning. They will have a reading book to complete weekly, but reading will be taught as a whole class rather than small groups. We will give each child a new reading book on a Friday and ask they return their book the following Friday.
In year 3 the children need to pay for their school lunches. Please continue to use Wisepay to order your child’s lunch for the week.
Please feel free to send us a message on Class Dojo if you have any queries.
With our very best wishes,
Miss Jackman and Mr Gray
