Letters Home

Thursday 21st April 2022

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed a well-deserved rest. Once again, we would like to thank you for your support during our last term.

Our theme this term is ‘Beside the Seaside’ and we will use this as our focus for lots of our learning across the curriculum. During this half of the summer term, we will be looking at sculptures in Art, comparing our local coastline with that discovered by our local explorer, George Vancouver in Geography and in Science we will be exploring living things and their habitats.

During the second half of the summer term, we will continue our theme by looking at the history of seaside holidays and creating a healthy recipe in Food Technology.

In our English we will carry on developing our story writing skills with a book all about Pirates and we will be revising all areas of maths such as, time, place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and problem solving to ensure a deeper understanding of these skills. As some of you may be aware, year 2 will have to do their End of KS1 SATS papers the week commencing 16th May.

Our PE days are now Wednesday and Friday for year 2 yellow and Monday and Tuesday for year 2 blue; your child will continue to come into school in their PE kit on those day and as we are entering the warmer months, please ensure your child has a water bottle with them every day, a sun hat when needed and you may wish to apply sun cream before coming to school.

Your child will receive a new takeaway menu for home learning this week, please return when you have completed a piece and we will mark and send home again as soon as possible. As restrictions are easing we are happy to say that class assemblies are now back and parents will be invited to watch these in school. Please keep an eye on Class Dojo as we will put up dates and more information on there regarding these.

We are excited to start a brand new term with you all again and we hope you are too.

Kind Regards,

Year 2 Team
