We are excited to welcome you all to KS2, Year 3! Your child will be learning with Mrs Shine, Mrs Chapman, Miss Cooper, Miss McGovern and Miss Johnson.
We have a wide range of lessons this year including a new language, Latin. In maths this term we will be looking at number place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. In English we are looking ata range of different spellings, grammar, persuasive writing and poems. In Religious Education we are looking at being part of a family at home and as part of our religious family. In History this term we will be looking at Pre-History including the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Science will include Animals (including humans) and light. In Design and Technology, we will see the children applying their science knowledge whilst making healthy pizzas.
Our P.E lessons this term in Year 3 Yellow will be on Tuesday and Wednesday and in Year 3 Blue they will be on Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has the correct named and labelled P.E kit with them on these days. Your child will be sent home with a home learning menu; they need to choose one piece of home learning from this to do each week which is to be handed in every Wednesday . We will also be completing spelling and grammar quizzes on alternate Fridays with the spellings and grammar being learnt in class throughout the week. In addition, the children will have weekly times table and addition and subtraction challenges every Tuesday and Friday respectively. Please try to read with your child every day as this will help support our daily reading challenges in class and their wider learning. They will have a reading book and sheet to complete weekly, but reading will be taught as a whole class rather than small groups. We will give each child a new reading book and sheet on a Monday and ask they both are returned the following Monday .
Year 3 Blue’s Class Assembly will be Wednesday 16 th October and Yellow’s class assembly will be on Wednesday 20 th November. Our class Mass will be on Thursday 10 th October and Whole School Mass will be 12 th September, 1 st November, 12 th December.
Please can your child bring in their lunch money for the week (£2.30 per day) on a Monday if they are having school dinners and hand it in to their class teacher. Please ensure any absences are reported to the office before school starts if your child is unwell. The children are now able to buy snack at break time such as cheesy bread/popcorn or they can bring in a healthy snack from home. Snacks from school start from 30p, your child will be responsible for their own money so please bring it in, in a named purse.
Please feel free to DOJO or find us on the playground if you have any queries or questions at all. We look forward to the year ahead with your wonderful children.
With our very best wishes,
Mrs Shine and Mrs Chapman
