Year 2 Home Learning

Please listen to your child read everyday. Every fortnight, your child will be able to bring home a library book to be returned the following week and your child will be given a Guided Reading book to bring home at the start of each week.

Please help your child learn their 2, 5 and 10s times table, in order and then at random. This will help them to reach their personal year 2 goals and 'beat your best.’

Each child should now have a home learning book and we will provide a new takeaway menu for the Spring term on here, the Jigsaw App and Class Dojo. They can use this to complete home learning in however, due to guidance, we are still not able to accept any home learning back to school. If you would like to send photos of what you are doing at home, please send them via email or Dojo: njackman9jr4@nsix.org.uk.

Finally, due to the lockdown that took place when your child was in year 1, they have now completed the Year 1 Phonics Screening check during the Autumn term in Year 2. If your child missed this due to isolation or absence, there will be another opportunity for them to complete this in the Summer, if you would like any information regarding this, you can look on...

This also has some links to examples of what your child has/will complete. The screening comprises of both real and rubbish words (written with an alien next to them) which your child will have to sound out and read. Please find below some practise examples for you to use with your child and the 2016 Phonics Screening Paper.

Thank you for your co-operation.
